This is a minimally revised version of a paper published in the Proceedings of the 21st Amsterdam Colloquium. This paper offers an account of two puzzling properties of the intepretation of plural definites, known as 'Homogeneity' and 'Non-Maximality'. It reconstructs Kriz & Spector’s proposal within the framework of the Rational Speech Act model.
