February 2020

In this overview we trace the development of research on the syntax of Bantu languages, emphasizing some themes that have had significant impact on generative syntactic theory: agreement, word order phenomena, and the question of Case. We also provide (briefer) descriptions of additional topics that have engaged researchers, including A’ phenomena and the topography of focus and topic in Bantu.
